CocoCroco

AI chat that branches on an infinite canvas.

Fork a conversation from any message, explore several directions at once, and keep every useful path visible. Your saved boards and conversations stay on your device. CocoCroco does not store or proxy your chat content; AI requests go directly to the provider you choose.

No account or credit card. Bring your own provider key; AI usage is billed separately by that provider.

Keep the main thread. Follow the interesting part.

Linear chat makes you choose between derailing a useful conversation and opening a blank chat with no context. CocoCroco keeps both the detour and the path that led to it.

Select the exact idea

Highlight text in the conversation drawer—or start from any whole message.

Drag it onto the canvas

A linked chat appears as a new branch, while the original stays untouched.

Continue with context

The branch inherits the conversation up to that moment, ready for a new direction.

More than a prettier chat window.

CocoCroco is a working environment for people who use AI across real projects: explore visually, choose the right model, and turn repeatable methods into reusable building blocks.

Explore without losing the thread

Let the work split when the thinking does, while every route keeps its place and context.

Message-level branching

Fork from any message—or drag selected text onto the canvas—to open a focused branch.

Side-by-side paths

Arrange related chats spatially and compare alternatives without tab hopping.

Search across the board

Find conversations, messages, and attachments when a project grows.

Give every route the right setup

Choose the model, voice, and working material that fit each part of the problem.

15+ AI providers

Use OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, OpenRouter, local CLI providers, and more.

Personas and prompts

Reuse trusted instructions without rebuilding your setup in every chat.

Files in context

Bring images, documents, data, and source code into the conversation.

Turn good processes into systems

Keep the methods that work, not only the final answer they produced.

Blueprints

Launch reusable multi-node flows with their own prompts, personas, and models.

Skills and plugins

Teach the AI repeatable procedures and connect it to useful tools.

Text and code nodes

Keep notes beside the discussion and build editable artifacts on the canvas.

From one question to a board you can navigate.

Chats, notes, and code stay connected on the canvas of your board. Zoom out to see the shape of the project; open any node to continue the work.

Canvas tour · video placeholder

Built for work that refuses to stay linear.

Research and analysis

Follow definitions, counterarguments, and evidence in separate branches—then return to a clean main line.

Product and strategy

Test assumptions, audiences, and plans in parallel without mixing every hypothesis into one transcript.

Building with AI

Move from exploration to prompts, code, and reusable workflows without losing why each decision was made.

Private by architecture, not by promise.

CocoCroco stores your saved boards, conversations, provider keys, and settings locally—not in a CocoCroco cloud database. On the web, that means this browser’s private storage; on desktop, a local SQLite file. When you send a message, the relevant context and attachments go directly to the provider you choose, under that provider’s terms.

  • Saved work stays local. On the web, the browser stores it in private local storage; desktop uses a local SQLite file.
  • CocoCroco is not in the chat path. Your message, relevant context, and attachments go directly to the provider you select when you send them, under that provider’s terms.
  • Moving data is explicit. There is no automatic cloud sync; export and import your boards when you choose. Clearing browser data removes the local web copy.

Start in your browser. Move to desktop when it earns a permanent place.

Questions before you make the switch

The important details about branching, provider costs, privacy, and Pro.

Why not just open a new ChatGPT or Claude chat when I get a tangent?

A new chat makes you rebuild the context and lose the connection to the original idea. CocoCroco lets you fork from the exact message or passage, continue with the relevant history, and keep every route visible on your board.

What exactly happens when I branch a conversation?

Select a message or passage and drag it onto the canvas. CocoCroco creates a linked child conversation with the parent history up to that point, while the original route stays untouched and ready to revisit.

Do I need my own AI provider keys?

Yes. CocoCroco is BYOK: bring an API key from one of 15+ supported providers, choose the model that fits the work, and pay that provider directly for usage. CocoCroco is the interface; it does not bundle model usage into the product price.

Can I use my ChatGPT Plus or Claude Pro subscription with CocoCroco?

Not directly. ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro cover the providers’ consumer apps, not API usage in CocoCroco, so you need a separate provider API key and separate usage billing. On desktop, supported local AI CLIs are another option.

Where is my data stored—and what leaves my device?

Boards, conversations, provider keys, and settings are stored locally in SQLite—private browser storage on the web or a local database file on desktop. CocoCroco does not receive or proxy your chat content: when you send a message, the relevant context and attachments go directly to the provider you select, under that provider’s terms. There is no automatic cloud sync; clearing browser data removes the local copy, so use export/import to back it up or move it.

What’s included in Free versus Pro?

Free gives you the core branching experience in your browser, with unlimited chats and small limits of 4 boards, 2 personas, and 2 prompts. Pro is $97 once: it removes those limits and adds unlimited blueprints, skills, and plugins, plus the focused Windows/Linux desktop app and no ads.

Is Pro a subscription, and can I move it to another computer?

No subscription: Pro is a $97 one-time purchase for lifetime access and future updates. Your license works on every machine you personally own; move your board data with explicit export and import instead of automatic cloud sync.

Can I try CocoCroco before I pay?

Yes. Open the browser app for free—no account or credit card required—and decide after using the core experience. If you buy Pro and it is not a fit, you can request a full refund within 14 days.
